Important Notice About ARN
Addictions Recovery Network provides educational and referral information related to addiction treatment and recovery. This page explains ARN’s role, the limits of the information provided, relationships with independent third parties, treatment verification responsibilities, and what to do during an emergency.
Addictions Recovery Network is an informational and referral resource.
ARN publishes educational information about addiction, treatment, recovery, detoxification, inpatient and residential care, outpatient treatment, costs, insurance, family concerns, and other related topics.
Visitors can use ARN’s educational pages without calling. Those who choose to call may be connected with an independent third-party treatment or referral resource, depending on the available referral arrangement. The person or organization answering a call may not be an ARN employee or a treatment provider.
ARN does not own or operate addiction-treatment facilities and does not deliver treatment directly.
The website, educational content, and treatment-information phone line should not be treated as a substitute for evaluation by a qualified healthcare or behavioral-health professional.
Medical, Clinical & Treatment Disclaimer
Information published by Addictions Recovery Network is intended for general educational purposes. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent substance-use disorders, alcohol-use disorders, mental-health conditions, withdrawal syndromes, medical conditions, or any other health condition.
ARN does not provide individualized medical advice, psychiatric advice, psychotherapy, counseling, detoxification, withdrawal management, medication management, nursing care, rehabilitation, clinical assessment, treatment planning, crisis intervention, or any other healthcare service.
Do not use ARN content as an individualized treatment plan
General descriptions of detox, inpatient treatment, residential care, outpatient programs, medication-based treatment, therapy, or other services do not establish that those services are appropriate for a particular person.
Appropriate treatment depends on individual medical, psychiatric, substance-use, withdrawal, safety, environmental, social, and other factors that require professional assessment.
Withdrawal can involve medical risk
Abruptly reducing or stopping alcohol, benzodiazepines, certain sedatives, and some other substances can produce medically significant withdrawal. Information on ARN should not be used to create a self-directed withdrawal schedule or medication plan.
Treatment and referral providers are independent from ARN.
A connection through ARN does not make an independent provider part of Addictions Recovery Network.
Independent Ownership
Treatment centers, detox programs, hospitals, behavioral-health providers, referral services, call centers, and other third parties are independently owned and operated unless expressly stated otherwise.
Independent Clinical Decisions
Providers make their own decisions about assessment, treatment, medications, admission, discharge, medical necessity, and clinical appropriateness.
Independent Business Decisions
Providers independently determine pricing, payment requirements, insurance participation, geographic service areas, transportation, program rules, and availability.
ARN may receive compensation from certain third parties.
Addictions Recovery Network may have advertising, marketing, referral, call-generation, or other commercial relationships with certain third parties.
ARN may receive compensation from participating third parties when certain referrals lead to qualifying treatment admissions. Other marketing or call arrangements may also apply. These are business payments to ARN, not a statement that a treatment program is suitable for any individual.
Commercial relationships can influence which participating options are available through ARN. ARN does not represent that its referral options include every treatment facility or every appropriate option in a state. You may compare providers independently and are not required to use ARN’s telephone service.
Compensation is not a clinical endorsement
A commercial relationship does not establish that a particular provider, facility, treatment program, medication, service, or level of care is medically necessary, clinically appropriate, superior, or suitable for a specific person.
Compensation does not guarantee:
- Provider quality
- Clinical appropriateness
- Admission
- Current availability
- Insurance coverage
- A specific price
- A particular level of care
- A particular treatment method
- Successful treatment
- Sobriety or long-term recovery
Coverage and treatment costs must be verified directly.
ARN does not guarantee insurance benefits, network status, reimbursement, authorization, or treatment pricing.
Insurance Coverage
Benefits depend on the specific plan, treatment provider, network status, covered level of care, authorization requirements, medical-necessity criteria, deductible, copays, coinsurance, exclusions, and other plan terms. A statement that insurance is accepted does not by itself confirm coverage or final cost.
Provider Pricing
Treatment providers determine their own pricing, deposits, payment schedules, financing arrangements, refund policies, and what services are included in quoted charges.
Additional Costs
Travel, transportation, lodging, medications, laboratory testing, outside medical services, childcare, missed work, and continuing care can affect total cost.
Verify Important Information Before Making Treatment Decisions
Information about treatment providers, services, costs, insurance, staffing, licensing, accreditation, availability, transportation, program length, or other details can change.
Before admission or payment, verify important information directly with the relevant provider, insurer, licensing authority, accrediting organization, healthcare professional, or other appropriate source.
Information worth verifying can include:
- Current licensing and accreditation
- Current program availability
- Admission criteria
- Clinical services offered
- Medical and psychiatric staffing
- Medication policies
- Levels of care offered
- Program length and daily schedule
- Insurance network participation
- Expected out-of-pocket costs
- Refund and cancellation policies
- Transportation arrangements
- Housing and accommodation details
- Continuing-care and discharge planning
ARN does not guarantee that information supplied by a third party will remain accurate or unchanged after it is provided.
No guarantees of admission, availability, or outcome.
Addictions Recovery Network does not guarantee that a particular treatment provider will accept a caller, have current capacity, serve a particular geographic area, accept a particular insurance plan, provide transportation, offer a specific medication, or provide a particular type of treatment.
ARN also does not guarantee treatment success, completion, sobriety, abstinence, improvement, family reconciliation, recovery, employment, housing stability, or any other clinical or personal outcome.
Treatment response varies from person to person and can be influenced by many medical, psychiatric, behavioral, environmental, financial, social, and personal factors.

Website Information & Third-Party Links
ARN may link to or reference websites, providers, insurers, government resources, support organizations, or other third-party information.
A link, reference, listing, or connection does not mean ARN controls the third party’s website, privacy practices, policies, content, services, or business operations.
Third-party websites may change without notice and may have their own terms, privacy policies, tracking technologies, disclaimers, and commercial relationships.
Information can change
Addiction-treatment practices, provider services, insurance rules, laws, regulations, clinical terminology, public resources, and other information may change over time. ARN does not guarantee that every page will reflect every change immediately.
What to Ask Before Agreeing to a Referral or Admission
A referral conversation is not the same as a clinical evaluation, insurance determination, or confirmed treatment booking. Before sharing sensitive details, arranging transportation, or paying a deposit, consider asking these questions:
- Who am I speaking with? Ask for the business name and whether the person represents a treatment provider, a referral service, or a call center.
- Which facility would provide care? Obtain its actual name and address, not only the name of a marketing or referral organization.
- How is this referral funded? Ask about any commercial referral relationship that could affect the options presented.
- Is this treatment medically appropriate? Confirm that a qualified professional will evaluate the person’s clinical needs and withdrawal risks.
- What will my plan pay? Confirm coverage, authorization, network status, and estimated out-of-pocket costs directly with the insurer and facility.
- What happens if the admission cannot proceed? Ask about refunds, transportation charges, alternative levels of care, and who remains responsible for costs.
For independent searches, visit FindTreatment.gov, the federal treatment-facility directory, or review SAMHSA’s National Helpline. Publicly funded and Medicaid-supported options may be available, depending on eligibility and location. You can also review ARN’s treatment-center comparison guide.
